Lori Avocato

After serving in the Air Force as a registered nurse, Lori Avocato decided to give up nursing to write fiction. She lives in New England and is a member of the Mystery Writers of America, PASIC, NINC, Romance Writers of America, the Author's Guild, and Sisters in Crime. She's raising two teenage sons (heaven help her!), and one darling dog, Spanky. Lori is the author of six novels featuring Pauline Sokol: A Dose of Murder; The Stiff and the Dead; One Dead Under the Cuckoo's Nest; Deep Sea Dead; Nip, Tuck, Dead; and Dead on Arrival.

From Nurse To Writer or How To Have a Successful Nursing "Afterlife."

I'm one of the "baby boomer" generations of nurses. I've put in many years of nights, weekends, holidays and...well, you know the drill. Throughout my time and into retirement from my career, I read...a lot. Reading was always an entertaining pastime, often an escape from a stressful job. Then there were those night shifts in OB when all the babies slept, the moms too, and no one presented in labor, so I read (and tired to stay awake.)

Turned out that I was one of "those" readers who thought, I can do this. I can write a book. Ha. Ha....
