Gao Xingjian
Novelist, playwright and critic Gao Xingjian was the first Chinese author ever to win the Nobel Prize for Literature. Born in Jiangxi Province in 1940, he has also won the 1992 Chevalier de l’Ordre des Artes (France); the 2000 Premio Letterario Feronia (Italy); the 2000 Chevalier de l’Ordre de la Légion d’Honneur (France); and the 2002 American Academy of Achievement Golden Plate Award. He currently lives in Paris.
