HarperCollins Acquires Kon Karapanagiotidis Book

HarperCollins Publishers to publish The Power of Hope

by Kon Karapanagiotidis OAM,

CEO and founder of the Asylum Seeker Resource Centre.

Kon Karapanagiotidis, widely considered one of Australia’s top human rights advocates, believes that by putting community, love and compassion at the centre of our lives, we have the power to change our world. As a lawyer, social worker and teacher, this philosophy drives him and the extraordinary organisation he founded  ̶  the Asylum Seeker Resource Centre.

The Power of Hope will be a simple but powerfully inspiring memoir, telling the story of the migrant boy Kon Karapanagiotidis who became a passionate and important human rights advocate, and the birth and work of the Asylum Seeker Resource Centre. This positive and heartfelt book will be about hope, the value of community, and the transformative power of kindness in our world today.

Note from the Author

Kon Karapanagiotidis says: ‘I am so proud to be writing for Harper Collins. I’m excited to be writing a book that will inspire conversations about how we build a more compassionate and inclusive Australia for all. A book that celebrates the value of community and the power of hope and kindness. A book for our times, filled with a sense of urgency, honesty, vulnerability, real ideas, purpose and passion. Mapping out a true way forward in such dispiriting times.’

Note from the Publisher

Publisher Catherine Milne says: ‘Kon is one of the great heroes of our time, and his book is going to be personal, moving, immensely powerful, inspiring and thought provoking.  It’s about celebrating what is good about our society and our country, and inspiring people to feel good about themselves but also to prompt them to do more, to do better, to step up and be better people  ̶  and make us a better society.’

HarperCollins will publish The Power of Hope in August 2018.
