Book Description

Some people say that mermaids are rapidly becoming an extinct species, like the Dodo bird, or the Tasmanian Tiger. Don′t believe them.

Thora is a 10-year-old girl - half mermaid, half human - who has reached that stage in her life where she must take up residence in the world of humans, without the help of her mermaid mother, Halla.

With the aid of her guardian, Mr Walters, Thora moors her houseboat, the Loki, in the seaside town of Gimli. Then together with her pet peacock, Cosmo, she must come to terms with a new life amongst people. This includes school and the evil developer, Frooty de Mare.

But Thora has life skills that can get her into and out of trouble with an effervescence that keeps all who meet her entertained and amused - well most people anyway!

Ages 7-10
