Terms & Conditions

  1. Instructions on how to enter forms part of conditions of entry.
  2. Proof of purchase necessary. You must purchase a specially stickered copy of The Alchemist (ISBN: 9780061122415) from a participating bookstore. One (1) entry per person only.
  3. TO ENTER ONLINE: log onto www.harpercollins.com.au/thealchemist and follow the links to email your entry and contact phone number to feedback @ harpercollins.com.au. Make sure you keep your proof of purchase in a safe place because we’ll need you to send it to us if you are a winner!
    TO ENTER BY MAIL: just send your original proof of purchase plus your answer to the question below and your name, address, phone number and email to: The Alchemist Competition, HarperCollins, PO Box 321, Pymble NSW 2073.
  4. Your entry must include an answer (no more than 50 words) to the following question: What does The Alchemist mean to you?
  5. Opening date for entries is 28th June 2008 and closing date is the last mail received by HarperCollins at 5pm on 31st August 2008.
  6. All entries will be read and the most original and interesting responses will win. There will be ten winners. The winners will be decided on the 5th September 2008 and will be contacted within seven days.
  7. There are 10 Coelho libraries to be won, eachworth $300. Each library consists of one each of the following: Brida, The Witch of Portobello, The Pilgrimage, Like the Flowing River, Zahir, By the River Piedra I Sat Down and Wept, Eleven Minutes, Warrior of Light, The Devil and Miss Prym, Veronika Decides to Die, The Fifth Mountain and The Valkyries.
  8. The prize cannot be transferred, taken separately, or redeemed for cash.
  9. Entry is open to all Australian residents except HarperCollins employees, agents, wholesalers, trade customers, and their immediate families, who are not permitted to enter. 
  10. The promoter is HarperCollins Publishers Australia Pty Limited.
  11. Privacy statement: we will only use and store your personal information for the purposes disclosed to you, including sharing it with any other organisation that helps us provide goods or services to you. If you provide us with your e mail address we will provide you with marketing material informing you of goods or services that may be of interest to you. Please tell us on your entry if you do not want us to send you marketing materials.
