Celebrating Book Week 2016

Book Week is a great opportunity to celebrate the unique and enchanting stories and storytellers Australia has to offer, and with the help of teachers, teacher librarians and public librarians, there’ll be tons to do and see. Rock Turtle Activity

Coinciding with the 50th anniversary of the iconic children’s show that we all know and love, ABC Books has published a special anniversary edition of the most useful book you will ever read; The Useful Book. It’s the perfect book for rainy days! Jam-packed with activities, games, recipes, songs and so much more. Very useful indeed! On a recent rainy winters day we decided to try out some of the creative – and delicious – ideas out for ourselves.       A Rock Turtle Ever wished for your own pet turtle? Us too! A turtle shell is the perfect shape to paint on a rock. Kids can choose the perfect rock to make their turtle, big or small, rough or smooth and they can get creative with the design. Paddle-pop sticks form the turtle’s legs and head while the painted rock is used to make the shell. Complete the look with googly eyes and you will have the cutest little turtle ever.
