An exciting book club was launched this week – the Kids News Book Club!

The book club is a new way to connect young Australian readers with their next favourite story.

Hosted on Kids News, a kid-friendly news site which is being read by children across the country, the book club will give voracious readers the chance to sample new stories from favourites like Emily Rodda, Matt Stanton and Jackie French.

Each month a new HarperCollins Book of the Month will be available for all classrooms and households to enjoy. For every book featured, Book Club members can read a free extract, enter a competition to win a class set of books, and purchase the book at a special price direct from Kids News.

Regarding this exciting partnership, Michelle Weisz, the Head of Marketing & Communications for HarperCollins Children’s Books Australia says: “We are so excited to have the opportunity to partner with Kids News on this new book club. The Kids News website brings news stories to classrooms in a fun, accessible and engaging way, and we are delighted to add our books to the mix to help teachers and parents get kids reading.”

For curious readers, Kids News is a kid-friendly news site which caters to Grades 3-8. The site allows children to engage with daily news articles tailored to their literacy level (colour-coded into green, orange and red). Every news story is age- and classroom-appropriate.

Parents and teachers can sign up (for free!) to become Kids News members here. Kids can sign up too, but they’ll need parental permission to do so.

There are five books already available to read:
