Bestselling author Maggie Alderson has created The Scent of You out of a personal obsession – perfume. Developed through extensive research, Maggie has brought her trademark warmth and wit to the high-stakes world of fragrance and the people who make it their life.
Meet Polly Masterson-Mackay. She’s a successful blogger about perfume – a passion since childhood. She’s also a yoga teacher, the mother of two grown-up children and is happily married to husband, David. At least that’s what she thinks until the day that he announces he is leaving her for six months, without giving a reason.
Reeling from David’s disappearance, and distracting herself with work and some fun new friends, Polly starts to re-examine what she really wants from her life. The Scent of You is a heady novel full of friendship, romance and the contrast of domesticity with the luxurious world of elite perfumery.
Maggie Alderson is the internationally bestselling author of nine novels, which have been published in many countries. Her children’s book was short-listed for the Prime Minister’s award. She has also published four collections of her fashion column, Style Notes, which ran in Good Weekend magazine for fourteen years.
Before becoming a full-time writer Alderson worked on magazines and newspapers. She was editor of British ELLE and the London Evening Standard magazine, ES. In Australia she edited Cleo and Mode, before joining the Sydney Morning Herald as a senior writer, specialising in fashion.
Alderson was born in London and moved to Sydney in 1993. She has now moved back to the UK to be near her family. She lives in the seaside town of Hastings with her husband and daughter.
